Rail mode

Rail freight & combined solutions.

Over long distances, rail offers an economical and lower-carbon alternative. HESTRADE organises your shipments via rail corridors and combined rail-road, and designs the combination of modes best suited to your goods, timing and budget.

What we organise

Rail, integrated into your supply chain.

For which needs

When to choose rail?

Long distance

European corridors and Europe-Asia routes over great distances.

Heavy flows

Heavy goods and regular volumes where rail excels.

Sustainability

Reduce the carbon footprint of your long-distance carriage.

Multimodal & Incoterms

The right mode, or the right combination.

Rail combines naturally with road and sea. As a forwarder, we arbitrate between modes and advise on the "any mode" Incoterms — EXW, FCA, CPT, CIP, DAP, DPU, DDP — to clarify responsibilities across the whole journey, whatever combination is chosen.

FAQ

Rail — what to know.

What is combined rail-road transport?

Combined rail-road pairs rail for the long haul with road for the first and last mile. It cuts cost and carbon footprint while keeping the flexibility of road.

Is rail more environmentally friendly?

Yes: for an equivalent tonnage, rail freight emits far less CO₂ than road or air. It is a relevant alternative for regular, heavy flows over long distances.

When is rail most relevant?

On long distances and regular flows of heavy goods, notably on European corridors and Europe-Asia routes, where it offers a good cost/time/footprint balance.

Do you organise combinations of several modes?

Yes: that is the core of our forwarder role. We design the rail-road, or rail-sea, combination best suited to your goods, timing and budget.

Other modes
